Krasnoyarsk Park of Flora and Fauna “Roev Ruchey” first opened for public on August 15, 2000. A quarter of a century has passed since that day, generations have changed, the Park territory has expanded, the collection of animals has grown, the staff number has increased...
The Park remains a public place, with thousands of people visiting it every day, caring for and supporting its inhabitants. This imposes a huge responsibility on the management and staff of the Park. And there are great plans ahead that don’t leave time for relaxing and resting on our laurels…
On the eve of the anniversary, the Roev Ruchey Park hosted a scientific and practical conference “Flora. Fauna. Man. Unity in Diversity” dedicated to its 25th anniversary. The conference was attended by 53 specialists from 14 zoos of Russia, Belarus, and Kyrgyzstan.
Veterinarians, zoologists, landscape designers, educators, researchers, and managers discussed a wide range of issues, including, in particular, the following:
· Modern approaches to animal veterinary care;
· Technologies for the care and maintenance of zoo animals;
· Experience in creating comfort environment for both zoo animals and visitors;
· Modern approaches to the conservation education; work with zoo visitors and interactive activities;
· Prospects for the development, species conservation programs, cooperation between zoos.
Besides, in the course of the conference, the participants were taken to the city of Krasnoyarsk to see its most beautiful places.
Conference participants emphasized the importance of spreading knowledge about nature and encouraging people in take part in conservation projects. Colleagues from various zoos noted the deep interest of the authorities of Krasnoyarsk and Krasnoyarsk Krai in the development of the zoo and participation in its life.
EARAZA President Svetlana Akulova said: “I was lucky enough to be a part of the great celebration of the 25th anniversary of Krasnoyarsk Park of Flora and Fauna “Roev Ruchey”. Together with colleagues from the zoos of Russia, Belarus, and Kyrgyzstan, we were taken around the Park territory by its Director Rinat Iskhakov who showed us an impressive living collection of over 9,000 animals of 730 species and 38,000 plants creating a unique natural landscape. Over the past 25 years, the Park has become an important conservation, scientific and educational centre. I sincerely thank our colleagues from the Roev Ruchey Park for their dedication, love for animals and professional competence. I would like to express my special gratitude to the administration of the city of Krasnoyarsk and Krasnoyarsk Krai for their wonderful hospitality and coordinated work aimed at nature conservation. I wish the Roev Ruchey Park prosperity, new achievements, and happy eyes of visitors!”
