On September 14–17, 2026, the Primorsky Aquarium (Branch of the NSCMB FEB RAS) will host an international scientific and practical conference entitled “Ocean Conservation through Education and Research” (OCER-2026). The Conference will be dedicated to the 10th anniversary оf the Primorsky Aquarium.
MISSION:
To integrate scientific research, educational programs and engineering solutions through creating a platform for the interaction of cross-disciplinary scientific fields to develop aquariums as centers of knowledge and protection of the World Ocean.
AIMES:
- To strengthen partnerships and improve coordination between teams of oceanariums, zoos and aquariums at the state and international levels;
- To present and discuss the results of the latest scientific research, engineering solutions, and experience in the management of hydrobionts;
- To promote values and measures for the protection of species diversity;
- To create teams of specialists to work on cross-disciplinary topics and implement joint projects.
TARGET AUDIENCE:
Biologists studying the diversity of the World Ocean, life support engineers, animal care specialists from oceanariums, aquariums and zoos, and animal trainers.
The scientific part of the OCER-26's program will include sessions within the following sections:
Section I. Basic research in marine biology.
Section II. Scientific research in public aquariums.
Section III. The welfare of wild animals in human care: ethical aspects.
