EARAZA goal and objectives

EARAZA aims at strengthening cooperation and developing relations between zoos, oceanariums, breeding centres, exotariums, aquariums, etc. of the countries of the Eurasian region in the area of implementation of nature conservation, scientific, educational, cultural, and recreational projects and assistance in the development and improvement of activities of EARAZA member organizations and protection of common interests of the Association members. 


EARAZA main objectives are:

  • To establish and strengthen ties between regional zoos and aquariums;

  • To improve professional level of the employees of member institutions through holding meetings, conferences, training courses, and workshops in the key areas of zoo and aquarium activities;

  • To establish and implement EARAZA joint ex-situ conservation breeding programmes for endangered species, create artificial population of animals, and, when necessary, participate in and implement species reintroduction projects;

  • To coordinate EARAZA programmes;

  • To assist EARAZA member institutions in improving animal husbandry methods and accomplishing animal exchanges within the framework of species conservation programmes;

  • To support educational activities of EARAZA member institutions;

  • To represent the interests of the EARAZA membership in international organizations and networks;

  • To carry out publishing activities for dissemination of information about the latest scientific and practical achievements in zoological affairs, as well as for popularization of biological knowledge;

  • To co-operate with governmental and public organizations and international agencies and groups on any issues that may be associated with EARAZA activities
